It is one of my favorite games of all time too. As a long time Half-Life fan back to playing HL1 on PS2 (initially) and also immense love for VR as a medium; Valve stepped up. Had tears too for the ending of Alyx, but more excitement-for-the-future tears, versus the last Hal-Life game (Episode Two) which was all sadness.
